A stunning re-development project that borders the beach and looks far out to sea. This beach house is right on the shoreline and takes inspiration from contemporary Californian designs.
We were privileged to be involved very early on in this project and as such were able to help the client make various design choices by producing life like interior visuals. This can be so helpful when it comes to making decisions such as flooring, colours and ceiling finishes.

In this case it was the traditional Douglas Fir King trusses. This style of roof truss or ‘A-frame’ was often used throughout Cornwall but is no longer prevalent due to the time and skill needed in its fabrication. With the hand cut structural joinery on show it provides a real visual connection to the fabric of the building, add the pine cladding on the ceiling and you get warm tones and a texture simply not attainable otherwise.
When it came to the kitchen the client wished to keep the open plan design but at the same time have the associated kitchen smells and noise isolated from the living area. To achieve this we constructed a one-off Douglas Fir glass frame integrated with the island unit itself. The glazing also has the effect of encapsulating the kitchen inside a glass case, bringing a sense of prestige to the setting not often seen elsewhere.

The living room side of the island unit features statement piece doors commissioned from Adam Lampshire.
The ‘Corvette Blue’ colour chosen by the client is fresh, light and a perfect tone to match in with the panoramic sea views.
You can have any colour from any paint range for your kitchen. We use an industry leading paint which is custom mixed to match your preferred colour from any manufacturers range. This is meticulously applied in a temperature controlled spray booth to produce the flawless finish seen here.
A clean handleless design was a prerequisite for the client, to make this unique and to help home the kitchen into the space we created bespoke Douglas fir inserts. These were then carefully recessed into the rear of the doors. Each insert was specifically prepared and chosen for its location. Douglas fir was also used to face the shelves inside the high grade Birch plywood units.
The client also preferred the look and ease of drawers to cupboards. Wherever drawers could be incorporated they were. In some spaces this could be inappropriate, such as the corner unit and dishwasher door front. Here we created Faux drawer fronts which are actually one complete solid door yet give the appearance of drawers. This meant that the horizontal lines were maintained, matching perfectly with the stunning horizon views from the kitchen window.
All of these details combined show the beauty of a bespoke commissioned kitchen. Everything is in place where and how you want it. There is no oversized filler panels ruining the balance of the space, no compromises on colour choice, no restrictions on unit dimensions. Nothing is part of a range.
